Sometimes I ask myself ..why do I love cooking so much, what a mysterious thing makes it a perfect relax for me, my hands, eyes and soul. Probably this thing is a smell, smell of calmness, cosiness, smell of just prepared meal.

Mississippi Mud Pie will definitely fill your home with a madding chocolate aroma, calm your mind and soul…

Mississippi Mud Pie

Well, let’s have delicious time together!

Base:

  • 140 g. butter | 0.60 cup
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 5 tsp sugar
  • 230 g flour | 1.80 cup

   Filling:

  • 175 g butter | 0.75 cup
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 340 g sugar | 1.50 cup
  • 160 g dark chocolate  | 0.90 cup
  • 250 ml cream 10% 8.45 fl-oz
  • 100 g chopped hazelnut 0.70 cup

  Topping: (I don’t cover)

  • 400 ml of 35% cream | 13.50 fl-oz

 Base:

Combine  butter with sugar.

Add  flour and cocoa powder

Add 5 tablespoons cold water to make a dough.

Wrap pastry in foil and put in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Press into bottom of a  24-26 cm pan.

Bake in preheated oven at 190 ° C (375 F) for 15 minutes, until golden brown.

Remove and cool.

Filling:

Beat butter with sugar.

Add eggs (one at a time), cocoa powder and mix.

Melt chocolate and cream together.

Add the chopped hazelnuts.

Mix all ingredients well.

Pour  the filling into the prepared crust.

Bake at 160 C (320 F) until set and cracked on top (like a brownie), about 40 minutes. 

Let cool Mississippi Mud Pie slightly.
